From around the DMV (D.C., Maryland, Virginia) area comes the latest business news and announcements. Brentwood-based company, Corizon, provider of health care services for correctional facilities has won a contract with the Virginia Department of Corrections. The two-year contract will begin May 1 and under it, Corizon will deliver health care to 15,000 inmates across the state of Virginia. Lawmakers in Maryland are proposing legislation that would make paid sick leave mandatory for the state's employers. If passed, if would make Maryland the second state in the country to have such a policy. CONSOL Energy earned the West Virginia Coal Association's top honor for reclamation when it was named the recipient of the Greenlands Award recognizing outstanding performance in reclamation work. Maryland is one of 37 states that will share a $7 million settlement with Google over allegations the company collected unauthorized data from consumers when putting together its Street View mapping service. The state will receive $130,388. Virginia schools ranked well in the latest lists of top business-related programs compiled by U.S. News & World Report. The Maryland House of Delegates on Tuesday passed legislation creating a new jobs training program backed by Gov. Martin O’Malley, sending the measure to O’Malley’s desk for his signature.
