Special Screening of Documentary Telling the 150+ Year History of African American Entrepreneurs

Firelight Media and Robert F. Smith, Founder, Chairman & CEO of Vista Equity Partners hosted a special screening of the highly-anticipated film BOSS: The Black Experience in Business at the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington DC. The panel discussion that followed with Stanley Nelson, Boss Director and Producer, Julieanna L. Richardson, Founder and President of The HistoryMakers, and Dr. Marcia Chatelain, Provost’s Distinguished Associate Professor of History and African American Studies, Georgetown University, which was moderated by Keith Alexander, Reporter for Washington Post.

Other notable guests included Patricia Harrison, President and CEO of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting; Lesley Norman, Executive Producer of Boss for Thirteen; Traci Curry, Producer of Boss, Marcia Smith, president Firelight, writer of Boss;Congressman Elijah E. Cummings (MD-7th District); Dr. Michael Lomax, President and CEO of the United Negro College Fund; Roland Martin, Host and Managing Editor of #RolandMartinUnfiltered; Shennette Garrett Scott, Associate Professor of History and African American Studies, The University of Mississippi, scholar in Boss; James Grossman, Executive Director, American Historical Association; Reggie Love, former personal aide to President Barack Obama; Kinshasha Holman Conwill, Deputy Director of Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture; Suzanne Malveaux, CNN anchor; Joe Madison, Radio Host; and Rock Newman, Former Baltimore Mayor.
