On May 16, small contractors in the D.C.-area will have an opportunity to meet and learn to work with one of the leading government organizations providing lucrative, global contracts – the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The 6th Annual Small Business Summit, at the Ronald Reagan Convention Center, will provide a forum for local small businesses to learn about federal government contracting, attended matchmaking and counseling sessions and network.
USAID’s prime contracting small business goal is at 11%, and in FY 2011, the agency awarded nearly 14% of its prime contracts to small businesses. Lunch with Leaders is designed to help small businesses build a rapport with the bureaus while demonstrating how their particular products and services can help the agency fulfill its mission.
The Lunch with Leaders portion, hosted by American Express OPEN, for example, will allow 200 small businesses to have lunch with USAID's Bureaus seeking to offer contracts to small businesses. This session is designed to help build a rapport with the bureaus while demonstrating how their particular products and services can help the agency fulfill its mission.
