Kathy Strauss, the owner of ImageWerks LC discusses her background, influence from her father and the craziness of being an entrepreneur. Her company was launched in 1999 after Strauss, a graduate of the University of Maryland, worked as a graphic designer with World Bank and USAID. Along with her husband they jumped into their business full-time in 2007. Strauss is heavily involved in the community and very passionate about her craft, photography.
The number 1 difficulty is cashflow and competition from the “youngsters.”
The most rewarding thing is I get to go out and meet people.
Make sure that you love what you are doing and you'll never work another day in your life. If you are going in the creative industry, know what your computers, know your software and know your target audience. Understand that it's not going to be all fun and all roses all the time.
