2012 was a Record Year for Virginia Wineries

Virginia's 230 wineries sold a record 485,000 cases of wine in fiscal year 2012, up 1.6 percent from 2011.

Exports of Virginia wines quadrupled, from 700 cases in 2011 to 3,300 in 2012, led by sales in China and the U.K., according to the Virginia Wine Marketing Office.

Wine sales last year generated $1.7 million in taxes for the Commonwealth.
