From around the DMV (D.C., Maryland, Virginia) area comes the latest business news and announcements. Howard University School of Business has teamed up with Cincinnati-based Sherpa Coaching to offer a certificate program in executive coaching. The course is based on the text, The Sherpa Guide: Process-Driven Executive Coaching by authors Brenda Corbett and Judith Colemon. Maryland added 6,700 jobs in January, led by the private sector and holding the state’s unemployment rate at 6.7 percent for the third consecutive month. The U.S. Small Business Administration has opened two new business centers in Virginia. The centers offer counseling, networking events, training, technical assistance and mentoring to women interested in starting and growing their businesses. Howard University is planning a $107 million residential expansion at its Northwest D.C. campus to accommodate more than 1,300 students. Maryland received a failing grade in health care price transparency from two industry nonprofit organizations. Maryland was among 29 states to get an “F.” Only two states, Massachusetts and New Hampshire, received top marks. Maryland's Senate Finance Committee on Wednesday voted against a measure that would have raised the state's minimum wage to $10 an hour by 2015
